Queer is an exaltation and an outlet for our aesthetic inquiries. Queer is the persistent intellectual discovery through our creativity. Queer is our commitment to be fabulously unashamed of our sexuality. Queer is finding a loving family and a safe home that celebrates diversity and help you thrive adversities. Queer is the desire to find our own truths through dance, education, and open communication. Queer is to share our stories and generate a space that welcomes yours.
A psychological and physiological investigation of identity, intimacy and isolation. The work delves in the masculine/feminine dichotomy to expose, examine and undermine its binary construction as it simultaneously manipulates the concept and construction of the self that exists in the virtual realm. It was made possible with support from Movement Research Artist-in-Residence program and with additional support from CPR with support from the Andrew W. Mellon foundation.

Antonio and the GangBangers explore themes of sexuality and the disappointments of queer dating after the sudden end of a 13-year relationship. The work shows the everyday struggles of new beginnings. Bullfighting, with its paradox of beauty and cruelty, pits the Toreo against the brave but suffering bull. Like this provocation, the work shows how we fight for survival in a similar battle to the death.

We aim to expand contemporary understandings of "queer" beyond its "glitter, drag, AIDS, pop music, and fluidity of gender identities" constructs. While these aspects are vividly present in our work -they are part of who we are and how we move in and through life-, they are not the only determinant elements of our existence as Queerart makers.
Our Queerness is a reassurance to continue seeing and sensing the beauty of living despite the struggles and disappointments that we could face. Together we strive to pioneer healing of the world through the expression of art, removing the perversity and violence towards nudity by educating people and encouraging them to gain diverse perspectives of the body image, and love themselves as they are.

Antonio Ramos’ ELLA is a piece addressing movement and Ramos’ own personal rituals. In it, he juxtaposes the reality of his daily routines with the fantasy he imagines onstage. Dancers Saul Ulerio and Adele Loux-Turner perform the piece with Ramos. Music for the piece includes recordings of Piero Umiliani’s Crepuscolo Sul Mare and Claude Debussy’s Clair the Lune from the film Ocean’s Twelve.

Antonio Ramos was born and raised in Puerto Rico where he trained in jazz, salsa and African dance. He later received a B.F.A. in Dance from Purchase College/SUNY. Antonio began his career performing with Ballet Theatre of Puerto Rico, Ballet Hispanico of New York, Ballet Concierto and Ballet Municipal (Puerto Rico). More recently, Antonio has performed with choreographers Mark Dendy, Neil Greenberg, Kari Hooas, Luis Lara Malvacias, Jeremy Nelson, Stephen Petronio, Merian Soto, Kevin Wynn, Ori Flomin and Donna Uchizono, among others. Antonio has taught at the University of Puerto Rico, Ballet de San Juan; Ballet Teatro de Puerto Rico; Ballet Municipal of Puerto Rico; Ballet Concierto; Danza Jazz of Puerto Rico; Dance Space Center; BAAD!/Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance; Latin Dance Festival in New York City; Princeton, Cornell, Wesleyan and Marymount Universities; Barnard College; SUNY/Purchase; The New School; NYU; The International School of Bangkok; Den Norsken Ballett Hoyskole in Oslo, Norway; and The Paluca Shule in Dresden, Germany.
Alvaro Gonzalez Dupuy

Alvaro Gonzalez Dupuy is a Dance artist based in Santiago de Chile and New York City. He holds a graduate degree in Dance with a concentration in Performance and Pedagogy (based in Laban/Leeder Technique) from the Universidad Academia de Humanismo Cristiano.
He is currently performing for Antonio Ramos, Not for Retail Collective Elizabeth Motley, and experiments independently in New York City as a dance artist through his own Dance Company “EstadoFlotante”
Miguel Guittierez
Composer
Miguel Gutierrez lives in Brooklyn and makes performances. He has been called “one of our most provocative and necessary artistic voices” by Eva Yaa Asantewaa at Dance Magazine. His work engages persistent philosophical questions about the search for meaning and joins a legacy of process-focused experimental dance while drawing on influences such as endurance-based performance art, noise music, ecstatic experience in social and religious rituals, the study of mind-body somatic systems, and various histories of spectacle including Broadway and queer club performance. His pieces include enter the seen (2002), I succumb (2003), dAMNATION rOAD (2004), Sabotage (with Jaime Fennelly 2001-2004), Retrospective Exhibitionist and Difficult Bodies (2005 Bessie Award), myendlesslove (2006), Everyone (2007), Nothing, No thing (2008), Last Meadow (2009 Bessie Award), HEAVENS WHAT HAVE I DONE (2010) and And lose the name of action (2012) and Storing the Winter with Mind Over Mirrors (2013).
Adele Loux-Turner

Adele Loux-Turner has been dancing in New York since she graduated from Purchase Conservatory in 2001. She met Antonio in Janet Panetta’s ballet class many years ago, and she has been performing in his work since 2006. Along with her dance life, Adele teaches Body-Mind Centering influenced yoga classes, and she is a labor doula.
Rennie MacDougall
Dancer
Rennie McDougall is a choreographer, performer, writer and teacher, originally from Melbourne, Australia. Rennie has performed in Australia with Phillip Adams BalletLab, Chunky Move, Lucy Guerin Inc, Belvoir Theatre, Luke George and Collaborators, Stephanie Lake, Lee Serle and Brooke Stamp, as well as in New York with Juliana May, Wally Cardona, Jennifer Lacey and Antonio Ramos. Rennie's own choreographic work has been presented by Next Wave festival (Aus), Phillip Adams BalletLab & Dance Massive festival, Lucy Guerin Inc, Melbourne Fringe and Sydney Fringe. Rennie also currently writes for Culturebot performance blog.

Saul Ulerio
Dancer
Ulerio is a dancemaker, musician and linguist from the Dominican Republic. In 2006 he moved to New York City to pursue a dance-making and performance career. In 2007 he started to study with Susan Klein, the creator of Klein Technique™, and now Ulerio is a member of the 3rd Teacher Certification Program and teaches Klein Technique™ classes through the Susan Klein School of Movement and Dance. In 2007 he initiated a 25-year exploratory process in which many of his personal researches are motors, especially through the influences of the works of filmmaker and writer Ingmar Bergman and writer Hermann Hess. Ulerio is interested in communication and voicing his most inner living thing. He uses this 25-year time frame to clarify what his creative process is and to develop his craftsmanship. In New York City his work was been presented at Dixon Place’s series: Moving Men, the Hot Festival and UnderExposed, also through DraftWork at Danspace Project, Movement Research at Judson Church, Teatro IATI, BAAD, and SLAM. He was a 2009-2010 STREB Emerging Artist grant recipient, as well as a 2010-2011 Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative nominee.
Rebecca Wender

Rebecca Wender has danced for many wonderful artists, including Alexandra Beller, Martha Clarke, Juliette Mapp, Jennifer Monson, Parker Pracjek, RoseAnne Spradlin, and others and was a featured dancer in John Turturro's film Romance and Cigarettes. In addition to working with Antonio, Rebecca currently happily works with luciana achugar and Sarah White-Ayon and is a massage therapist (www.parkplacemassage.com).

Sarah White-Ayón is an artist working across the disciplines of performance, dance/choreography, video, sculpture, sound and collage. Her work has been presented through various organizations and in venues throughout the US including Strange Loop Gallery; SVA's Visual Arts Gallery; SVA’s Gallery 136; AUNTS; The Philadelphia Fringe Festival; Fritz Haeg's Sundown Salon; Monkey Town; Movement Research Festival; Movement Research Studies Project; Dance on Camera, Kinetic Cinema; iLAND's iLAB residency; Highways Performance Space and Gallery; Triskelion and Ulla's House Salon. She holds a B.F.A in dance from UMKC and is a 2011 graduate of the School of Visual Art’s M.F.A Photo, Video and Related Media Program. In addition to her own work, she has performed and/or collaborated in the work of such artists as robbinschilds, Felicia Ballos, Nancy Garcia, Flora Weigman, Rebecca Brooks, Jennifer Monson, Levi Gonzalez, Alex Escalante, Simone Coutu, architect, Angel Ayón, 3D photographer, Gerald Marks among others.
Darrin Wright

Darrin Wright, a Brooklyn based artist, is a native of Los Angeles, California where he started tap dancing at the age of six. His early trainings began with Ian Gary, Janet Roston and Rudy Perez. In 1997, Darrin joined The Bella Lewitzky Dance Company as part of its farewell tour. He received his BFA in Dance from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Since graduation, Darrin has had the pleasure of working with The METopera, Susan Marshall, Terry Creach, Jane Comfort, Bill Young/Colleen Thomas, Yanira Castro, Jack Ferver, Tami Stronach, Antonio Ramos, Doug Varone, Amber Sloan and other wonderful artist. In 2009, he received a Bessie Award for his work with A Canary Torsi' Dark Horse/Black Forest.

Luke Miller
Dancer / Administrator
Luke Miller, originally from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, studied dance at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. He received a Bessie award in ’09 for his performance in Dark Horse/Black Forest and is currently a collaborative member of a canary torsi (Yanira Castro & Co.), The Gangbangers (Antonio Ramos Dance), and Susan Marshall & Co. He has also performed in the work of Martha Clarke, David Dorfman, Molissa Fenley, Keely Garfield, Neil Greenberg, Fiona Marcotty, Julie Atlas Muz, Neta Pulvermacher, Stephen Petronio, Christopher Williams, and Bill Young /Colleen Thomas. Luke has curated and choreographed several performance events at Location One art gallery in SOHO and collaborates often with Quinndustry Collective infusing dance within the world of David Quinn’s fashion. He is in his fourth year of teaching Movement for Actors at Playwrights Horizons Theater School at NYU's Tisch School of the Art and teaches Master Classes in Performance and Improvisation throughout the country.
